Often at brownfield sites, original design data quickly becomes out of date due to site modifications during original construction, site modifications, and ongoing upgrade work all being improperly documented.  This is of particular concern when sustaining-capital projects are being planned.  Not having up-to-date information available which fully reflects current on-site condition/installation can cause inefficiencies in the planning, design, and construction phases of project work - generally resulting in rework - typically during the most expensive part of the project - construction.

3D SCANNING & reality capture

Brownfield plant upgrades typically contain multiple undocumented project features and interfaces.   These often the cause of the bulk of unplanned, expensive & schedule impacting site rework during upgrade construction activity.  We have experience and in-house expertise planning and executing 3D scan projects for plant facilities and environment. This involves, data capture, register, and output of scans to a consolidated point cloud model for the extent of the project before, finally,  integrating the point cloud model into the design process and vastly reducing this type of problem.  The 3D scan carries forward in the plant life cycle and becomes an ongoing site asset available to be utilised for other future work. 

REVERSE ENGINEERING / AS-BUILT MODELLING & drafting

Often plant sites have limited engineering data.  Owners typically only have PDF copies of drawings and schematics, sometimes you might have CAD data for different stages of work (original plant, subsequent upgrades).  This causes a cost to you when upgrade work is planned and executed as not all plant information is captured on the drawings.  

By engaging with you and your existing design data and utilising 3D scans for validation and capturing undocumented upgrades, we generate a CAD design model, we can serve as a baseline of CAD or BIM data against which new project work can be modelled.  Similarly, if you've recently completed work and need this work captured and included in your master site information.  This process can be applied to any built environment or physical form.  Contact us, we can scale a solution to suit your needs.

 UPDATE ENGINEERING DRAWINGS

If you have old or incomplete PID drawings or schematics (eg P&IDs, PFD's) that you require to be brought up to date, we can help.  We have a team with the experience to;

  • Audit and update P&IDs to reflect the latest site conditions.
  • Digitise legacy drawings and key documents to CAD eg. Hand-drawn P&IDs to CAD. 
  • Convert dumb CAD P&IDs to intelligent P&IDs with plant life-cycle information.
  • Update and implement site drawing registers and drawing management systems.
